The John Wayne Cancer Institute (JWCI) at Saint John’s Health Center has been awarded a grant from The Avon Foundation, thanks to the recent Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Los Angeles.

JWCI’s Breast Cancer Research Program has received $450,000 to support program materials and staffing. This includes a program coordinator, outreach coordinator and a bi-lingual health educator. These new funds will build upon existing support from the Avon Foundation, which began in 2003, to establish the collaboration of outreach through the Center for Healthy Aging (CHA) and research at JWCI.

Saint John’s, a 230-bed, not-for-profit, acute-care hospital, provides a full spectrum of treatment and diagnostic services in cancer care, cardiac care, orthopedics, labor and delivery, critical care and other specialties to Santa Monica and neighboring communities.
