Los Angeles City Councilman Bill Rosendahl and Concerned Residents Against Airport Pollution (CRAAP) will hold a town hall meeting that will include a panel of experts from the medical, scientific and environmental communities. They will hear comments from public officials and members of the impacted communities including Venice, Mar Vista, West Los Angeles and Santa Monica. The meeting will take place Thursday, Nov. 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Daniel Webster Middle School Auditorium, 11330 West Graham Pl. in Los Angeles.

The meeting is free and open to the public, who will have the opportunity to comment about how Santa Monica Airport affects the quality of their lives.

Martin Rubin, director of CRAAP, said this is the first time a Los Angeles City Council representative has addressed this issue with a public forum. He added that Los Angeles, which borders about half of the airport and gets most of the air and noise pollution, has no representative on the Santa Monica Airport Commission.

After hearing input from the public and public officials, the panel of experts will discuss, at future meetings, how best to effectively assess the impact of the local sources of air pollution and noise on the communities surrounding Santa Monica Airport.

After the panel concludes their assessment, measurements, as well as a human health study, might be conducted that may ultimately lead toward the development of strategies on how to control and mitigate the impacts from the sources of pollution.
