Independent filmmakers are looking for local businesses to help prop up the next Malibu Film Festival.
The red carpet will roll out in Malibu for the seventh annual Malibu International Film Festival (MIFF), kicking off with the opening night film at the New Malibu Theater, followed by the opening night party and fashion show sponsored by Maui and Sons and hosted by The Sunset Restaurant on April 7, 2006.
Cutting-edge independent films from around world will screen at New Malibu Theater and compete over the seven-day event. The festival will offer films, parties, industry seminars, sponsor exhibits, test drives and an awards reception under the stars.
As Malibu is the home to many film industry decision-makers, MIFF is a competition festival that focuses on premiering new films and talent that are looking for distribution and representation. Premiere status is taken into account for all sections, and films that have not yet screened in Los Angeles are given priority.
Sponsors include Maui & Sons, The Sunset Restaurant, Penta Water, Charter Communications, Adelphia, Wexler Video, Technicolor, Disc Makers, MS&K, Filmworks, Urth Café, TheHostCo.com, WithOutABox, Malibu Chronicle, Graphic Weekly, Canyon News, Santa Monica Daily Press, Santa Monica Mirror, Santa Monica Observer, Malibu Surfside News, Musicians Outlet.
