Letter: Conflict of interest alleged in historic district remodel plan

Published:

“I BELIEVE THAT THE ANGRY HOMEowners in the historic district are justified because the planned change is going to be visible from the street and will change the tenor of the entire neighborhood. I also think it’s significant the plan is designed by an architect named Michael Folonis, who is the head of the Architectural Review Board. Three of the members of the Landmarks Commission — of the six who will be hearing the issue — are architects. Every plan they make in Santa Monica must cross Michael Folonis’ Architectural Review Board. I think we have a clear conflict-of-interest here.”
