Letter: Defending classic Santa Monica against big-money development

Published:
“I LIVE IN OUR HISTORICAL DISTRICT.”

“THE NEIGHBORS ARE NOT OVERREACT-ing. Someone needs to speak up to defend what is left of classic, old Santa Monica. The rest of the city’s recent buildings, including the cruddy looking library, are an insult and blight on our once charming, lovely little beach community — so very out of character, but big money wins. All you have to do is wave dollar signs in front of the classless blockheads on the City Council and you can buy anything. Look around you.”
