Six teams of mother-daughter volunteers recently brightened up the Thanksgiving holiday for low-income families with infants and toddlers.

National Charity League of Los Angeles’ Ticktockers, a national non-profit community service organization for mothers and their high school daughters, hosted a Thanksgiving turkey dinner for 23 families on Nov. 23 at St. Joseph Center’s Infant Toddler Development Center in Venice. The center provides free, full-day child care for low-income working mothers with children ages 6 months to 2 years old.

“It’s always important to be of service to the entire community on holidays,” said Katie Wendelin, a first-year NCL Ticktocker. “It was hard work, but it was fun, too.”
