The Westside Waldorf School students will present the fifth annual performance of “Festival of Lights” on Dec. 11.

The magical evening of entertainment features selections and representations from countries near and far. The children learn about the countries, customs, cultures and histories as they learn their roles for the event.

Performances depicting Santa Lucia (Sweden), Los Posadas (Spanish), Kwanzaa (Africa), Duvali (East Indian), Bulgaria, Muslim, Advent and Chanukah represent some of the selections to be enjoyed at the school’s main campus at 1229 Fourth St., between Santa Monica and Broadway.

The Snow Fairy Market is designed as a “Children’s Only Shopping Spree.” All of the fairy holiday items may be selected from the assortment of hand made gifts. Fairy “helpers” will be available to assist with their selections.

The market will be held between 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The festival of lights will begin at 6 p.m. and will cost $5. A nursery will be available for $6.

The Westside Waldorf School is part of the largest non-sectarian independent school movement in the world, with about 200 such schools in North America and 900 throughout the world. The school is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit, founded in 1988, and offers classes through sixth grade.
