The Santa Monica Elks, in conjunction with the Jack Showers Foundation, donated a new golf cart to the V.A. West Los Angeles Healthcare Center. They also gave a donation of $2,071 to sponsor veterans going to the National Rehab Games.
Doug Randall, Elks exalted ruler, presented the keys to Hannah Nishimoto of Rehab Medical. Also present were Grady Sain, president of the Jack Showers Foundation; Robbie Robinson, chairman of the SM Elks Veterans Committee; and Pete Armstrong and Augie Roberts of the Veterans Committee.
Willie Durt, who is in charge of the golfing area, said there are many veterans in the hospital who like to play golf but are unable to walk the course.
Sadie Stewart of the Rehab Center said the cash donation would mean that three or four more people could participate in the Rehab Games, which she said are a great morale booster for everyone.
