WEST L.A. Six people were recovering Tuesday from minor injuries that occurred when a Santa Monica Big Blue Bus crashed into a retaining wall. The driver may have passed out, a Los Angeles Police Department sergeant said.

The solo-vehicle accident happened at 11361 West Pico Blvd., near Sawtelle Boulevard, about 9:30 p.m. Monday night, said Sgt. Barry Montgomery of the LAPD’s West Traffic Division.

Those injured were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries, “mostly scrapes and bruises,” Montgomery said.

One of the injured people was the driver of the bus, who had a medical condition that apparently caused him to pass out while driving, Montgomery added.

The bus — Line 7 — was traveling eastbound en route to the Pico/Rimpau Transit Center.

BBB officials are investigating the cause of the crash and are reviewing audio and video tape recordings captured on the bus. Officials are also looking at the bus itself to see if there are any mechanical problems that could have caused the accident.
