A call for opposition

Published:

By Caroline Jacobs Santa Monica

I recently read Bill Bauer’s column (“South SM is stacked with services,” Nov. 20, page 4) listing the multitude of public housing for the mentally ill, poor, etc., on the south side of Santa Monica. I had no idea we had so many agencies and so much housing and help devoted to these people. I think Santa Monica has more than done its share.

But no! Now, I read that the Planning Commission has, unbeknownst to the average resident, approved an amendment allowing the city to build high-density public housing throughout Santa Monica.

Public housing projects on San Vicente, Montana, Wilshire and all points in between! How “inclusive” can you get?

The southern sections of our city have indeed suffered. Now the rest of the city has to be uneasy about its quality of life.

The City Council will vote on this amendment. Please voice your concerns/opposition before it’s too late!
