Local residents will be able to continue celebrating if a $96,000 production budget for the Santa Monica Festival is approved.
City Hall has hosted the annual festival since 1991 at Clover Park, an event that honors the cultural diversity of Santa Monica. The council will be asked to award a $96,000 contract to Community Arts Resources (CAR) to produce the festival this spring. The contract includes options for CAR to produce the event in 2009 and 2010.
CAR has been responsible for orchestrating the past three festivals, each of which has seen an increase in participation over the previous year, according to city staff.
