Photo courtesy Charlie Russell, 6 lbs., 14 oz., was the first baby born in Saint John’s new North Pavilion. Amy, the baby’s mother, was in labor in the original hospital, but was moved to the new inpatient pavilion on Dec. 4 where Charlie was born at 10:30 a.m. Charlie and his parents, Amy and David Russell of West Los Angeles, went home on Monday morning amid loud congratulations from nurses, doctors and staff. The 200,000-square-foot North Pavilion, which opened over the weekend, has an entire floor dedicated to women’s health, which includes labor and delivery rooms, The Maria Shriver Nursery and neonatal intensive care. The building also serves critical care, oncology and general surgery inpatients.
