James White, author and executive director of the Christopher Isherwood Foundation, presents “Isherwood — A Personal View of his Work” and leads a discussion of Isherwood’s 1964 novel “A Single Man” on Saturday, Oct. 2, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Fairview Branch Library, 2101 Ocean Park Blvd.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the celebrated author’s birth. Isherwood immigrated to America in 1939 and lived in Santa Monica Canyon until his death in 1986. “A Single Man” is frequently acclaimed as the author’s finest novel, a pioneering work of modern gay fiction, and a quintessential Los Angeles novel.
