The Santa Monica Airport Conversion Project will unveil its Illustrative Master Plan for the future park at a community event from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Memorial Park Gymnasium.

The event launches the fourth of five phases in the multiyear planning effort, which follows more than two years of community outreach. The project will shape the future of the airport site after aviation operations end in 2028.

The master plan shows how the park will be organized and how people will move through it. Perspective drawings at the event will illustrate key views, and attendees can share feedback directly with the project team.

Phase 4 builds on community and City Council feedback on the Framework Diagram presented during Phase 3B, which established the park's overall structure and districts. A Phase 3B online survey, conducted from February to April, drew more than 4,200 responses on district locations and potential uses. Results and comments are available under the Resources tab on the project website.

"The airport land belongs to the people of Santa Monica, and its future should be decided by them," Mayor Caroline Torosis said. "Residents have given us their time and their ideas at every step of this process, and the latest survey results reflect that. I hope you will read them, join us on Oct. 17, and help us get this right for Santa Monicans who will use this space for generations to come."

Phase 4 will also explore phasing, implementation and cost estimates.

Those unable to attend can review the plan and give feedback at future board and commission meetings and through an online survey.
