Antiwar group goes on the offensive

A local antiwar group will be presenting a documentary on the media’s coverage of the Iraq war, a job they say was done poorly.

Following their presentation of “Weapons of Mass Deception,” Film for Peace activists will host an open discussion led by the documentary’s distributor.

The documentary probes the relationship between the media and the military, an interaction the antiwar group characterized as “militainment.”

The film also explores the notion some hold that journalists in Iraq were targeted by the U.S. military, a suspicion recently fanned after the number of journalists killed during the Iraq war surpassed the number killed throughout the Vietnam War.

The event will take place Friday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. at Velocity Cafe, which is located at 2127 Lincoln Blvd.
