The public is encouraged to attend an open forum this weekend with the five candidates running for the 41st Assembly District seat. The free forum is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 12. from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Colorado Center community room.
Sponsored by the Americans for Democratic Action, the forum will allow voters to see and speak with the candidates in person to help them make an informed decision rather than evaluate candidates largely upon the brief soundbites playing on television and radio.
Five candidates — Julia Brownley, Barry Groveman, Kelly Hayes-Rait, Jonathan Levy and Shawn Casey O’Brien — are vying for the seat being vacated Assemblymember Fran Pavley.
The 41st Assembly District encapsulates 70 miles of coastline running between Oxnard and Santa Monica, including parts of the West Valley, Pacific Palisades and Brentwood.
The Colorado Center community room is located on the north side of Broadway at 25th Street. There is free parking available on the street and under the building on the top level of the Yahoo! Center garage on Colorado Avenue between Cloverfield Boulevard and 26th Street. Heavy metal thunder: Dumping waste can be hazardous
