Attendant better be packing more than towelettes

Regarding the use of public restrooms near the Promenade (SMDP, April 20, page 1). The good news, a clean bathroom is needed near the Promenade since Barnes & Noble closed their public bathrooms to the public due to problems with transients.

The bad news is contained in a quote in the article. Barbara Brian states, “By having one large, centrally located restroom with an attendant, we can make it easier for folks to find it, and easier to monitor and keep clean.”

In a perfect world this would be swell, but I see a bad moon rising. An attendant — I wouldn’t have that job for six figures a year. Hopefully, this attendant won’t be mugged or worse within the first 10 minutes on the clock.

From past experience, what’s needed is an armed guard instead of, or in addition to, this attendant.
