Araxie Naufal has been honored with a U.S. Bank five star volunteer award for exceptional volunteer service. The Soroptimist International-Los Angeles West/Santa Monica will be $1,000 richer as a result. It is one of 115 organizations across the United States to receive an award in the second half of 2005. Recipients of the U.S. Bank five star volunteer award were chosen based on nominations submitted by employees, or the organization for which they volunteer.

Naufal, who works for U.S. Bank in West Los Angeles, is vice president of programs for Soroptimist International-Los Angeles West/Santa Monica. The position involves recruitment and scheduling of at least one speaker per month for special programs meetings. In addition, Naufal works with the club to raise funds to implement community awareness programs aimed at improving the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world.

The second round of U.S. Bank five star volunteer awards will be presented in 26 states and the District of Columbia. Nominations are being accepted for the first round of awards for 2006 and may be made by an employee or by a nonprofit organization. The deadline for the first round of 2006 nominations is April 15. Winners will be announced in June.
