Barking up which tree?

The National Arbor Day Foundation has created an 84-page guide book that will enable anyone to identify up to 157 different types of trees in the western United States.

The book is designed with drawings of tree leaves, needles and other identifying features such as berries, seed pods, cones and acorns. The “What Tree is That?” booklet’s step-by-step identification guide enables even the most inexperienced nature lover leaf out exactly what tree they have discovered.

“Helping people enjoy and appreciate trees is central to the educational mission of the Arbor Day Foundation,” said John Rosenow, president of the foundation. “Being able to identify trees is important to knowing how to care for them and how to plant the right tree in the right place.”

To receive the tree ID guide, send your name, address and $3 to “What Tree is That,” The National Arbor Day Foundation, Nebraska City, Neb., 68410 or visit arborday.org.
