A group of activists are bringing a TV star into their circle. Activist Alexandra Paul, the former “Baywatch” star who is featured in the environmental documentary film “Who Killed the Electric Car?” will soon be the special guest speaker at the Activist Support Circle, which is an emotional support group for progressive activists.
The monthly gatherings are to help activists guard against related burnout and turn feelings of despair into feelings of empowerment.
The group members share activist-related frustrations and fears, as well as hopes and aspirations, in what’s been described as a supportive, safe environment. The goal is that they learn helpful coping skills and ideas from other like-minded activists.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 26, at the Friends Meeting Hall, located at 1440 Harvard St. in Santa Monica. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the free-to-the-public support gathering will begin at 7 p.m. The gatherings are free and there is free on-site parking.
