The remodeling of the local shoreline hang-out Annenberg Community Beach club hit a snag when asbestos-containing materials were discovered during recent soil excavation activities.
The council aims to amend a construction contract on the project and authorize additional work to dispose of any hazardous materials and remediate contaminated soil.
Midwest Environmental Control, the company currently working on the asbestos-ridden site, were chosen for their budget-friendly and timely services.
Wiping the beach club clean of dangerous toxins will cost an estimated additional $439,900.
