Big Blue Bus seeks new management system

BETTER MANAGEMENT FOR BIG BLUE BUS

The Big Blue Bus is seeking a new management system that can better track driver certifications, training and timekeeping, its current software outdated and inefficient. The Trapeze Software Group has been tapped to provide the new Motor Coach Operator Management System and customer service software for $1.6 million, a contract that includes four additional one-year options that total more than $441,000.

The existing system is outdated and cannot interface properly with new products used by the Big Blue Bus. The new software will track employee absences and manage payroll, according to transit staff.

In addition to authorizing the software purchase, the council will also be asked to spend more than $740,000 in grant money for transit security projects, allowing the Big Blue Bus to conduct security training for all front-line employees. The federal, state and regional grant funds will also help enhance security improvements to the Big Blue Bus campus.
