The newest attraction on the Santa Monica Pier could be a larger restroom.
The popular landmark is slated to receive a bigger and better central facility that will include 32 toilets, nine urinals and 18 hand-wash sinks, filling a need for more lavatories on site.
The council’s anticipated approval of the project includes accepting an estimate by TLD Construction — which is engaged in a design-build contract with City Hall — that the construction portion will not exceed $3.2 million.
The Santa Monica Pier Restoration Corp. has long been looking to replace and expand the existing central facility. The target date to finish construction is July 2009.
