Caltrans will close lanes and restrict parking along state Route 2 in West Los Angeles, Hollywood and Echo Park beginning Sunday, Oct. 25, for curb, gutter and sidewalk work on a multimodal pavement project.
Work will take place overnight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday unless otherwise noted. Parking restrictions will be in effect around the clock from Oct. 25 through Saturday, Oct. 31. Signs will be posted in advance.
From Oct. 25 through Friday, Oct. 30, closures will include:
West Los Angeles: Up to two lanes in each direction of Santa Monica Boulevard will close overnight between Federal Avenue and Cotner Avenue. Parking will be prohibited in both directions on that stretch.
Hollywood: Up to one eastbound lane and two westbound lanes of Santa Monica Boulevard will close overnight between North Gower Street and Western Avenue, with no parking in either direction.
Echo Park: Up to one northbound lane and two southbound lanes of Glendale Boulevard will close overnight between Branden Street and Allesandro Street, with no parking in either direction. The Alvarado Street on/off-ramp from northbound U.S. 101 will close from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., with detours available.
Southbound Glendale Boulevard near Clifford Street will also be reduced to one lane from 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, to 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, for bus pad replacement. Parking will be prohibited in both directions of Glendale Boulevard near Clifford Street.
Driveways to businesses will remain accessible during lane closures. Motorists should expect shoulder and parking restrictions in both directions of SR-2 during construction.
The approximately $70.2 million project runs along SR-2 from Centinela Avenue in Santa Monica to the route's terminus in Echo Park. It includes three segments: 1.4 miles of Santa Monica Boulevard between Centinela Avenue and Interstate 405 in West Los Angeles; 2.1 miles of Santa Monica Boulevard between La Brea Avenue and U.S. 101 in Hollywood; and 1.5 miles of Alvarado Street and Glendale Boulevard between the northbound U.S. 101 ramps and the northbound SR-2 terminus in Echo Park.
When complete, the project will extend pavement life and improve safety along SR-2 in Los Angeles.
Schedules may change because of weather or operational reasons. Nearby residents and businesses may experience construction noise, vibration and dust.
Current road conditions are available on Quickmap. Residents can sign up for project notifications; those already receiving project emails do not need to sign up again. More information is available on the project website.
Caltrans reminds drivers to "Be Work Zone Alert" and "Slow for the Cone Zone."
