Venice is turning 100. The fourth Annual Carnevale! Venice Beach, presented by the Bank of America, will kick off the community celebration of the Venice Centennial this weekend.

At noon, the Venice Drum Circle will launch the Carnevale! as 100 booths featuring arts and crafts will open and then performances will continue throughout the day on three stages and in the surrounding streets. Deborah Greene of Venice's new epOxybOx Gallery will be hosting an art show of Venice talent near the post office, where there also will be a food court including local Venice restaurants.

For the first time this year, an antique car show sponsored by Santa Monica Saab has been added to the Carnevale on Grand Avenue, south of Windward Circle. The Concorso Venezia has been organized by Pierre Vuilleumier and Richard Feibush, an automotive expert who writes for several car magazines.

The costumed Masqerade will feature two stages, DJ’s, dancing, a cabaret show, bars, and a special performance by Trey Knight and his 10-foot tall dancers in his acclaimed choreographed performance: Stilt World.

The Carnevale! will take place on Saturday, June 25 starting at noon and ending at 10 p.m. at Windward Circle where Windward Avenue and Main Street intersect, just east of the Venice Beach Boardwalk. There will be a party to follow at 10 p.m. at Actor’s Challenge Training, 3224 Thatcher Ave., Marina Del Rey. Admission is $10 in costume and $15 in street clothes. A little northern exposure for concerned residents
