Chamber invites one and all By Daily Press staff

Published:

The Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce has several public events planned for April that all Santa Monicans are invited to attend. All of the events are offered at no charge to the public.

Boards and Commissions Academy The city of Santa Monica has 24 boards and commissions. The groups oversee everything from the arts to the organizations that manage the pier. The requirements to serve on a city board or commission vary — sometimes being a resident is required. If you have an interest in serving the community, come to the chamber’s “Boards and Commissions Academy” on Thursday, April 6. A panel of experts will speak on what it takes. The event will be held at the chamber offices, 1234 Sixth Street from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Westside Business Expo Trade Show The chamber will hold an open-to-the-public trade show on April 12 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event will be held at the newly renovated Sheraton Delphina Hotel, formerly the Four Points, at 530 West Pico Blvd. Come see displays from more than 50 area businesses. Each person at the event will have the chance to win one of five weekend packages that include hotel stays, meals and activities. There also will be light appetizers and a cash bar. The event is sponsored by LACarGuy.

Community Health Festival For more than 20 years, the chamber has hosted the Health Festival. This year, the event is moving from the Promenade to the Santa Monica Pier’s carousel deck. Saint John’s Health Care Center and Santa Monica-UCLA Hospital, along with Dougherty Laser Vision and Spectrum Clubs, are hosting this year’s event. More than 60 health related businesses will be on hand offering free screenings, product demonstrations and health care advice. The community event will be held on Saturday, April 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
