Sipping champagne at a luxury hotel next Sunday afternoon could help a homeless person.
The third annual Blues by the Sea event salutes individuals, groups and businesses for their support of Turning Point Transitional Housing. Turning Point provides homeless adults with housing, food and clothing assistance. Dedicated staff and volunteers also provide counseling and advocacy aimed at reversing the cycle of homelessness in the community.
Volunteer supporters’ contributions will be recognized at the event. Blues by the Sea — Celebrating Turning Point will be held on June 13, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel.
The fundraiser will feature a champagne reception, silent auction and the Sam Graham Trio, with Dante as emcee. Admission is $35 per person, with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to Turning Point.
Different awards will be handed out, including the Open Heart Award to recognize the service of St. Monica Community Parish. The Generous Spirit Award will be given to Hal Ross, in appreciation of his generosity. The third award, the Brilliant Star Award, recognizes corporate contributions and will be given to the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel.
