By Charly Brown Santa Monica
Welcome to People’s Republic of Santa Monica. This time our city has excelled for a second year in a row, displaying the worst Christmas tree at Third Street Promenade (at Broadway). Such a record must be entered on “The Guiness Book of Records.” It is amazing that so much money was poured into a beautiful pedestrian walk, only to be tarnished with an ugly Christmas tree not worth ever setting our eyes on. How far away is Santa Monica from the 50-foot tall Christmas tree on exhibition at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, where people flock to see and admire it, traveling from thousand miles away? So it is in Chicago or any other important city in United States.
Our clown governor should include in future ballots a measure stating that California forbids ugly Christmas trees to be displayed on our beautiful state. Perhaps his muddy deep popularity at the polls may improve with some more intelligent ideas.
