The California Coastal Commission is asking area students to compete in an art contest with the ocean in mind.
The Coastal Art & Poetry Contest asks California students in kindergarten through 12th grade to submit artwork or poetry with a coastal or marine theme. Up to eight winners will be selected to win a gift certificate to an art-supply or book store, and each winner’s sponsoring teacher will receive a gift certificate to the Acorn Naturalists Catalog. Winners may have their work featured on the commission’s Web page and printed materials. Entries must be postmarked by Jan. 31 to be eligible.
