In the mood for some pop art this December? The Design Center, located at 1119 Colorado Ave., is featuring a collage art exhibit by artist Tom Brennan on Friday, Dec. 9, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
“Collage art gives me personal enjoyment, but also a sense of control over the endless corporate imagery we’re all assaulted by,” Brennan said. “In the process of creating a collage, you are free to cut and re-assemble images and make your own emotional sense out of the visual icons that crows our lives. The collages have everything to do with joyous social survival. That’s why this exhibit is called ‘Winter Feast for the Eyes.’”
When the collages are mounted on four walls, they produce an energetic visual field within the gallery room that causes an interesting atmosphere, Brennan said. The low background music feeds your ears, and you realize the art you’re looking at is not a series of sterile, squiggly lines, but a formidable serving of color and texture.
