Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) Conny McCormack announced that the staff is hard at work recruiting pollworkers to volunteer for the Nov. 7 general election.

Although the RR/CC’s office has recruited over 23,000 pollworkers, there is still a need for approximately 700 more pollworkers. Recruitment has been especially difficult in the east and south sides of Los Angeles, Agoura Hills, Beverly Hills, Calabasas, Culver City, Gardena, Hacienda Heights, Long Beach, Monterey Park, Pacific Palisades, Panorama City, Pomona, Redondo Beach and Reseda, various areas in the San Fernando Valley, Santa Monica and Torrance.

McCormack said, "Pollworkers are the most important and necessary component of a successful election day. They must be available between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on election day to set up the polls, provide assistance to voters, issue ballots and conduct poll closing procedures."

A pollworker's services are compensated by receiving $80 for working the poll and a $25 bonus for attending a training session. A schedule of classes, pollworker training videos and training materials can be found on our website www.lavote.net.

For more information call the Polls Section of the RR/CC at (800) 815-2666, option 7 or on the Web at www.lavote.net.
