A dedication ceremony for the completion of all Will Rogers State Beach facilities and the renaming of the South Bay Bike Trail is scheduled for Monday, July 23, at 10 a.m. at Will Rogers State Beach, 17700 PCH and the western end of Temescal Canyon Road.
Funding of approximately $13 million was allocated for the capital beach project from Regional Park and Open Space District Prop A Bonds, as well as net county cost funds. Improvements include four new mission-style rest-rooms, a new lifeguard lookout and garage facility, a rebuilt concession building, parking lots, new landscaping, construction of new ADA-compliant access improvements and redesign of the parking lot entrance at Temescal Canyon Road. The new improvements will increase public awareness of the beach and enhance recreational opportunities.
Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky and other dignitaries will be speaking at the dedication ceremony that will include the renaming of the South Bay Bike Trail in honor of Marvin Braude.
