The Westchester Elks and the Santa Monica Elks presented $1,000 checks to Lions Club International Foundation for Tsunami relief.

The Elks chose the Lions Club because they have been distributing emergency grants for 30 years, officials said. All donations go directly to victims. Donations to the Lions Club will fund immediate survival efforts, as well as long-term recovery aid.

To donate to the Lions Club, mail a check to LCIF at 300 West 22nd St., Oak Brook, Il., 60523. The check should be made out to LCIF and “tsunami relief” must be written in the memo field. For more information, contact Curt Curtiss at (310) 645- 8989. School documentary wins award
