Heal the Bay will announce the findings of its 2006 End of Summer Beach Report Card on Tuesday morning at the Santa Monica Pier.
The report card is the organization’s yearly evaluation of California’s summertime water quality, based on data from more than 450 shoreline monitoring locations. Beaches from Humboldt County to the Mexican border are rated on a scale from A to F, based on the levels of bacteria in the water. The information is presented in the Beach Report Card in attempts to protect beachgoers from the health risks caused by water pollution.
An announcement of the findings is planned for 10 a.m. on the pier. Heal the Bay’s End of Summer Beach Report Card grades will be made available both in print and online at the web site www.healthebay.org.
