Find peace within yourself

By Daily Press staff

Center yourself while exploring the labyrinth at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica this weekend.

Visitors may use the ancient meditation tool for praying and personal reflection. The labyrinth is comprised of a 30-foot by 30-foot canvas with a labyrinth design painted onto it. The maze’s design is a replica of a labyrinth, which once rested on the Chartres Cathedral floor in the Middle Ages.

The event is free and no reservations are needed. Free underground parking is available directly across the street from the church. Visitors are requested to bring white socks to protect their feet from the labyrinth’s surface. For those who prefer not to remove their shoes, shoe covers will be provided. First United Methodist Chuch is located at 1008 11th St. The labyrinth is open to the public on Sunday, Sept. 17, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. (last entry 11:15 a.m.) or 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (last entry 3:45 p.m.).
