Tonight’s free concert at the Santa Monica Pier will feature Australian folk pop, traditional and acoustic music.

The surprise hit of last year’s folk festivals, the WaiFS are a folk act that play acoustic songs and tight harmonies.

The trio is comprised of sisters Vicki and Donna Simpson and Josh Cunningham. All three are primarily self-taught singers and guitarists who have managed themselves independently for more than 10 years.

The music is about living and loving, accented with close harmonies. The trio has released four albums including, “Up at Night,” in 2002, “The WaiFS,” “Shelter Me” and “Sink or Swim.”

The show will open with Laurie Lewis who is a fiddler/guitarist/bassist/singer/ songwriter, who performs traditional acoustic music that includes bluegrass, country and folk.

Lewis is a Grammy-nominated artist who recently published “Earth and Sky: the Laurie Lewis Songbook.”

The concert runs from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the parking deck of the pier as part of the Twilight Dance Series.
