At the recent Elks installation, Ken Miller, president of the Santa Monica Emblem Club, presented a check for $500 to newly installed Exalted Ruler Ray Beers of the Santa Monica Elks. The money was donated to the California-Hawaii Elks Association Major Project, which funds 32 physical therapists that teach the parents and siblings of handicapped children how to administer therapy in their home. After bi-weekly exams, the therapy is updated.

They also fund eye exams for pre-school children and numerous scholarships for handicapped children who live in rural areas, where those types of services are not readily available. The donation puts the Santa Monica Elks well over triple their per capita quota, Elks members said.
