Twenty two homeless people are no longer living on the street and have turned their lives around as a result of Santa Monica’s social services.

They, along with the civic organizations and agencies that helped them, will be honored on Sept. 26. It’s the eighth annual breakfast and awards ceremony called “Celebrating Success: From Homelessness to Self Sufficiency and Healthy Lives.”

The event, sponsored by the Westside Shelter and Hunger Coalition, will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel, located on Wilshire Blvd. The awards program will be held between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.

The emcee of the program is Wendie Malick, who stars in the weekly sitcom “Just Shoot Me.”

The cost is $25 per person, or $250 for a table of 10 people. Tickets are $35 per person at the door. Reservations are required. For more information, or to make a reservation, call (310) 828-7010.

The Westside Shelter and Hunger Coalition is an association of more than 25 local human service, government agencies and faith-based organizations whose mission is to provide services for homeless and hungry people in the west LA. The coalition was created 20 years ago to address the needs to the growing homeless population and continues to coordinate services, education and advocacy.
