One of Santa Monica’s largest neighborhood organizations, Friends of Sunset Park, will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, June 7. All members and the general public are invited.
The meeting will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 14th Street and Ocean Park Boulevard, in Santa Monica.
Formed in 1989, Friends of Sunset Park is a non-profit neighborhood organization dedicated to working for the interests of all Sunset Park residents.
Sunset Park is bordered by Lincoln Boulevard to the west, Pico Boulevard to the north, Centinela Avenue to the east and Dewey Street to the south.
Santa Monica Airport, Santa Monica College, Santa Monica Business Park, Clover Park, Marine Park, Fairview Library, John Adams Middle School, Grant Elementary School, and Will Rogers Elementary School are all located in the neighborhood.
The featured speaker at the annual meeting will be Jonathan Lait, a senior planner from the city’s planning division. He will discuss the interim development ordinance that currently limits the size of new homes and additions to existing homes in Sunset Park.
There will also be a speaker from the Santa Monica Historical Society, reports from the organization’s airport, college, historic preservation, and library committees, as well as the election of board members and a short performance by the Senior Girls’ Chorus from John Adams Middle School.
