Garage sale items needed

By Daily Press staff

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. The Santa Monica Police Activities League (PAL) will hold a gigantic garage sale on Sept. 18, at the Barker Hangar, 3021 Airport Ave., at the Santa Monica Airport.

PAL is seeking saleable items, including clothing, dishes, glassware, linens, collectibles, housewares, furniture, electronics, jewelry, sporting goods, books, decorator items and antiques. To save time for the volunteers working the event, unsafe children’s items, large appliances, or dirty or badly damaged goods will not be accepted.

If you have items to donate, bring them to the Barker Hangar on Sept. 17. Donations also will be accepted at the PAL Youth Center, located at 14th Street and Olympic Boulevard before Sept. 17. PAL is a non-profit agency and receipts will be provided for tax purposes.

Call PAL at (310) 458-8988 to donate, or if you are interested in volunteering or have questions.

Funds raised will support ongoing enrichment classes and after-school programs including the Older Teen Program, Fitness Program and Homework Assistance. Some of the enrichment classes include golf, biking, arts and crafts, cooking, hiking, basketball and reading. PAL also has a full-service computer room with 12 PCs and Internet access. PAL offers ongoing classes in computer skills and open lab time.
