A landmark of Santa Monica celebrates its 70th anniversary with a celebrity-hosted gala dinner that will benefit charity.
On Thursday, Oct. 30, one of Santa Monica’s beloved Art Deco landmarks — The Georgian Hotel — celebrates its 70th anniversary with a community fundraiser. A ribbon-cutting has been scheduled for noon on Tuesday, Oct. 28.
Gala dinner and libations will be provided by the chefs of JiRaffe, Border Grill, Ocean Avenue Seafood, I Cugini, Il Fornaio and Bacardi. The fundraiser will benefit the Ocean Park Community Center, a 40-year-old community supported network of shelters and services for homeless adults and low-income families.
It will be a nostalgic look back with an eye towards the future. The Georgian’s heyday dates back to the early 1930s and was the ideal setting for the city’s varied industries to intermingle, from Donald Douglas Engineering to the Hollywood studios.
The event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and is open to the public. Dinner is $125 and the cocktail reception is $50, with the net proceeds going to the charity. The hotel is located at 1415 Ocean Ave. For more information, visit www.georgianhotel.com.
