Grant Elementary School’s 700 students are joining the American Red Cross in its “Share the Holidays” toy drive.
The toy drive is sponsored by the Grant Student Council, which has enlisted the aid of the Santa Monica Fire Department. The fire department, which acts as a collection station for donated toys, will make a special trip to Grant Elementary to pick up more than 500 toys.
On Dec. 19 at 10 a.m., two hook and ladder fire trucks will roll onto the playground of Grant Elementary School. Led by their student council representatives, each of Grant’s 33 classes will eagerly wait their turn to present toys to the firemen. Armed with large Santa-like bags, the firemen will greet children as they drop their toys into the collection bag.
Access to the Grant playground can be found at 24th Street just north of Ocean Park Boulevard.
