The council is expected to spend roughly $40,000 in state grants to institute the Aboveground Petroleum Storage Tank Act (APSA). City Hall is a Certified Unified Program Agency, allowing it to coordinate six specific hazardous material control programs.
The programs are operated by the Environmental Programs Division with the Santa Monica and Los Angeles Fire Departments. The grant will be used to fold in the APSA into the existing CUPA system.
