Santa Monica police officers responded to the 1900 block of Colorado Avenue after receiving a report about an armed robbery in progress. When officers arrived, they made contact with two individuals who said they were walking down the street when they were approached by a man and a woman who demanded money. The male suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and threatened to stab the victims if they did not give up their cash. One of the victims said he had no money so the suspect grabbed a cell phone from the victim’s pocket. The suspect then lunged at the victim as if to stab him, but he missed, witnesses said. The victim then punched the suspect in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. At that point, the female suspect pulled out a stun gun, grabbed her friend and the two ran off into the street. Witnesses said that’s when a passing car hit the two suspects hard, knocking them to the ground. A female in what appeared to be the get-away car drove over to the two suspects and helped them into the car before driving away. The vehicle involved in the accident drove off as well. Officers called local hospitals to see if anyone was in the emergency room with injuries sustained in a car accident. Officers learned that two people were in a local emergency room that were “pretty bashed up,” police said. Officers responded and arrested the suspects for robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. The hit-and-run driver was not apprehended. The suspects were identified as Steven Robles, 20, Marlen Fernandez, 19, and Christina Ramirez, 19 — all of Pamona. Bail for Robles and Fernandez was set at $50,000. No bail information for Ramirez was available.
