I’m so pleased to see that you’re still running Phyllis Chavez’s column, as we get to see her quacking characters develop, their important message becomes more and more apparent. How refreshing it is to be reminded in such a light-hearted manner the small steps we can all take each day to clean up our environment. No soap box, no loud, empty speeches, just gentle humor nudging us to “do the right thing.” Thank you, Phyllis, Richard, Rusty, and the one whose name I can’t remember at the moment! You are so right, we can’t just flush all that trash away! Although I don’t live in Santa Monica, I do read your paper online, as we are considering a move there upon retirement. Currently we live on the opposite coast in Maine, but we have the same problems with trash in the water and on the beaches, as well as poor air quality. I’m impressed that your paper seems to take environment issues seriously.
