LA Sparks help Santa Monica Beach community By Daily Press staff

The entire WNBA L.A. Sparks team last week came to the Santa Monica Beach to help out Heal The Bay, a group whose mission is to promote a clean and safe environment.

All of the players, along with coach Michael Cooper, seemed excited while pacing up and down the beach on the heavily overcast day. They got down and dirty, carrying large bags while picking up trash, talking, laughing and signing autographs for eager fans, many of whom came from as far away as Anaheim and West Covina.

“I think it’s an important cause,” said Sparks Gurad Tamecka Dixon. “And any-time we can be in the community to help, I think it’s tremendous.”
