With two years to go until the Olympic and Paralympic Games arrive in Los Angeles, LA28 has become the most in-demand ticketed event in Olympic history, organizers announced July 29. Ticket registration has climbed to 12 million, up from 5 million reported in February.
Fans in more than 200 countries and all 50 states have registered for a chance to buy tickets to the first Summer Games on U.S. soil since 1996. The milestone coincides with the LA28 Visa Presale, which runs July 29–31 and gives qualifying Visa cardholders early access to Drop 2 tickets.
"Twelve million people registered for a chance to buy tickets, a historic show of excitement, and it's only the beginning," said Reynold Hoover, LA28 chief executive officer.
The momentum builds on Drop 1, which placed more than 4 million tickets with fans. Los Angeles and Oklahoma City-area residents claimed nearly 75% of all tickets sold, along with 95% of tickets priced under $100 and half a million $28 tickets.
This week, LA28 and the Los Angeles Rams gifted 1,000 free tickets to 10 local organizations through the Community Ticket Program, made possible by the Rams' inaugural $5 million donation. The tickets cover Olympic Swimming and Flag Football.
Drop 2 runs Aug. 10–20. Fans randomly selected for a time slot will be notified by email Aug. 6–7, with slots open for 48 hours. Fans may purchase up to 12 Olympic event tickets and up to 12 additional Football (Soccer) Tournament tickets, with a four-ticket-per-ceremony limit. Registered fans who do not receive a Visa Presale slot are automatically entered into the Drop 2 draw.
Paralympic tickets will go on sale in 2027, when LA28 also launches a verified ticket resale network. Organizers caution fans to wait for the official resale program before buying or selling resale tickets.
Applications are also open for the LA28 Volunteer Program presented by Delta Air Lines. Fans can sign up for the LA28 newsletter for updates on future ticket opportunities.
