LA28 on Oct. 28 unveiled âStars Alignâ as the official slogan of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The slogan launched worldwide with a 60-second campaign film.
Organizers described the slogan as a rallying cry and an invitation to athletes, volunteers and supporters. The Olympic Games open July 14, 2028, followed by the Paralympic Games on Aug. 15, 2028.
Every Olympic and Paralympic organizing committee chooses a slogan that reflects its host city, region and country. These slogans accompany the Olympic motto, âFaster, Higher, Stronger â Together,â and the Paralympic motto, âChange Starts with Sport.â Rio 2016 chose âA New World,â Tokyo 2020 used âUnited by Emotionâ and Paris 2024 celebrated âGames Wide Open.â
According to LA28, the slogan reflects the idea that the stars align when dedication meets a generational moment. Los Angeles will host its third Olympic Games and its first Paralympic Games.
ââStars Alignâ is a call to action, whether youâre an athlete at the peak of your skill, a volunteer welcoming the world to these Games, or a fan cheering passionately from the stands,â said Casey Wasserman, LA28 chairperson and president. âWe canât wait for the stars to align in 2028 so we can share this moment with everyone.â
The film is set to the Red Hot Chili Peppersâ âCanât Stop.â It features Los Angeles landmarks such as the Hollywood Sign and Griffith Observatory, along with the cityâs golden-hour sunsets and diverse communities.
The video is available at LA28.org, on LA28âs social channels and on International Olympic Committee and International Paralympic Committee platforms.
âThe greatest moments in sport donât just happen. Athletes work their whole lives for them. In 2028, hard work meets the city of dreams. Thatâs what âStars Alignâ is about,â said Alex MerchĂĄn, LA28âs chief marketing officer. âThis film is just the spark for whatâs to come.â
