Some local residents will be under the spotlight if city officials agree to install new street lights on a slew of Santa Monica streets.
The streetlights are proposed to be placed on 30th Street, from Pico Boulevard to Pearl Street, as well as Georgina Avenue, from Fourth Street to Seventh Street. The style of the lights was voted upon by residents of the neighborhoods. Property owners will welcome ornamental post-top style lights, with Georgina Avenue homeowners selecting an Aegean concrete pole for the bottom of their structures.
The project is estimated to cost $231,000, with $115,500 coming from the city and the other half from property owner assessments. Grants have been allocated for those residents from low-to moderate-income households.
