LOCALS REACT TO CELEBRITY ARREST

Published:

Lohan’s time in the spotlight over the past few years has been as much for her hard-partying ways as her film roles, showing up hung over for film shoots and notching several brushes with the law.

Her latest run-in on Tuesday in Santa Monica comes just three days before the release of her latest flick,“I Know Who Killed Me.”

News of her arrest was met with mixed reactions locally, with some respondents saying they felt sorry for Lohan, others were incredulous that she would be caught intoxicated so soon after rehab.

“My first reaction was, ‘My God, what is that girl up to?” said Monica Welch, who was enjoying lunch on Tuesday along the Third Street Promenade. “She’s an idiot.”

For the Ventura resident, it’s been strange seeing Lohan grow up from the red-headed, freckled-faced teen in “The Parent Trap” to a lost young woman in and out of rehab.

Everyone makes stupid mistakes, Welch said, but those in the spotlight who may serve as role models for children need to be more mindful of their influential status and take more responsibility.

Kyle Kolsky said he sympathizes Lohan’s situation. “I feel sorry for her current state because it’s a reflection of the entertainment industry and a lack of care for our entertainers and young professionals in the business,” Kolsky said on Tuesday.

It’s a tough and stressful industry, even for the most seasoned performers, Kolsky said.

“I don’t look at her in judgment... there’s an immense amount of stress she and other young entertainers face,” Kolsky said. “My feeling is she is a very genuine loving person, but is not surrounded by people who care for her.”
